Regional Autonomous Robotics Circuit Competition

On Saturday, November 9, the NDMS robotics team participated in the Regional Autonomous Robotics Circuit Competition (known as RARC). Our team placed 16th out of 72 participating local and regional middle schools.  After eight weeks of after-school preparation, the students competed in three separate challenges. Two of the challenges required students to program robots for special tasks, such as re  moving hurdles and clearing shot puts from a field.  The third challenge was a Quiz Bowl in which students competed against other schools to answer questions about math, science and the ancient Olympics.  Congratulations to Kyle, Hunter, Donavan, Christian, Dakota, Christy and Bobert (the robot) for a job well done!

Last week, these students also participated in robotics training at the Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts in Natchitoches.  They worked with high school students and college instructors and other area students  to learn and practice new skills.  In the final competition,  NDMS students took first place.
