Congratulations to Hunter on being named the DeSoto Parish Middle School Student of the Year!!
The 8th grade gifted students took a field trip to the Oscar award winning Moonbot Studios on November 15th. The students saw William Joyce, and learned about what happens behind the scenes in making animated movies. Regional Social Studies Fair
Our students represented us well at the Regional Social Studies Fair!! Christy and Luke won 4th place. Trinity won 2nd place, and she will be going to state competition in Lake Charles. Great job, Griffins!!

Young Author's ContestCongratulations to Kaylea Reeves on winning third place in the 8th grade nonfiction category at the State Young Author's Contest for her essay, "Fate's Strings". Louisiana Teacher Leader Event- Lafayette, Louisiana
Congratulations to Hunter on being invited to speak at the Louisiana Teacher Leader Event held on April 18th in Lafayette, Louisiana. Hunter spoke about teachers that have had a dramatic impact on his life at the gathering of over 2,000 teacher leaders. He did a wonderful job representing North DeSoto Middle School!! Louisiana Junior High State Champions!!! Congratulations, Lady Griffins!!! In the championship game, the Lady Griffins shut-out Caldwell by a score of 7-0. The team's head coach is Kristen Cole with assistant coach Jimbo Davlin.
Stonewall Retirement Community
4-H Club, Book Club, and CAPA partnered for a community service trip to Stonewall Retirement Community. The students square danced and completed an art project with the residents. Everyone had a wonderful time!! NDMS 4-H WinnersElyssa Coker's goat was named Reserve Champion Louisiana Bred Fullblood Doe, and Christina Cummings won in the 4-H Poultry Division! North DeSoto Middle School won the Tap Founder's Award at Tap National Convention. The honor, the most prestigious given to any Teacher and Student Advancement School in the nation, was presented by U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu and came with a $50,000 award for the school. 
We are looking forward to an awesome second semester at North DeSoto Middle in 2013!! LEAP and iLEAP testing will soon be upon us this spring. Students and teachers have been diligently preparing for these assessments daily in the classroom. Check out our new website for the Golden Griffin Awards!! The Golden Griffin Awards will be held this spring. If you are interested in entering a video in the contest, turn in your admission form in either Mrs. Acree or Mrs. Rockett's classroom. Shreveport Opera Express
The Shreveport Opera Express visited our school and performed with our students in an assembly. Everyone did a wonderful job! DeSoto Parish Arts Council Gallery
NDMS student, Kaylone, stands with his mixed media art work, "The Lion King". Kaylone's art was a hit at the DeSoto Parish Arts Council Gallery in Grand Cane where he received numerous compliments. Kaylone's drawing will be entered into the DAC Art Rocks competition in April. Congratulations, Kaylone!!
